Design And Build Quality

Charging Case

The shape of the charging case of the Lenovo LP80 is quite new and somewhat similar to Lenovo XT95 Pro, it has the shape of a Pokémon ball, very small that you can grab it easily in one hand or slide it inside your pocket, it has a very comfortable grip on the hand, neither slippery nor heavy and for that, I find this shape an excellent choice of design.

Lenovo LP80 Review

The charging case of the Lenovo LP80 consists of two-part, the outer shell which is just a Pokémon ball-shaped transparent plastic with the Lenovo logo in the middle, a USB type c port underneath, and two screws, the lid is fixed by magnets that are not so strong that if you shake it a little hard it will open, some may consider this an advantage or a disadvantage depending on their preference, most importantly, you can open the case with one hand and that’s definitely a good thing. And the earbuds may never fall off the case no matter how hard I shook it.

After you open the case, you’ll find the second part, a grey plastic piece which contains the earbuds and the battery, I have found difficulties getting the earbuds out and inside of the case and they almost fell off many times because the lid doesn’t open all the way up.

Lenovo LP80 Earbuds

The Lenovo LP80 earbuds look very similar to the AirPods 3 in addition to an LED blue dot and a small surface on the lower side for touch control, they also seem so well crafted that you can’t tell they are cheap just by looking at them. Even though the earbuds are a little too big, may hurt your ear if it is small, or at least sit uncomfortably on your ear, I was able to get used to them after one day of use, because they were very lightweight, and they stick very well to the ear even when I ran or jumped rope.

On the lower side of the earbuds, you will find the magnetic pins that help keep the earbuds still inside the case and charge them as well as the touch control area which we’ll get into in a second in addition to a microphone hole for all the communication, it’s worth mentioning that this earbud doesn’t come with noise-canceling technology, except that because of the way it’s built, it’s impossible to hear your surroundings at a certain high volume.

Lenovo LP80 Waterproof

The Lenovo LP80 is waterproof certified, this will prevent any form of damage from rain and water and sweat which means it will allow you to move more freely under rain and exercise better knowing your headphones are safe from the sweat. Despite that, we still don’t recommend putting it under direct water or submerging it for example, because that will definitely damage it. The charging case is not waterproof, as a result of daily use, the effectiveness of the earbuds’ waterproofing may reduce over time.

Touch Control Panel

The touch control on the think plus LP80 has a variety of controls that will you spare you a lot of getting your phone out of your pocket just in order to skip a song or accept a call, except that it is very touchy and may execute commands as you are putting the earbuds in or taking them off which is very annoying. A list of the controls as mentioned in the user manual:

  • Pause/play: one click on any bud
  • Last song: 2s press on the Left bud
  • Next song: 2s press on the Right bud
  • Increase volume: double click the Right
  • Lower volume: double click the Left bud
  • Accept/End call: one click on any bud
  • Reject call: 2 seconds long press on any headset
  • Turn on/off voice assistant: Three clicks

How To Pair Lenovo LP80

Pairing the Lenovo LP80 with any device is pretty easy and quick either Android or IOS or other, thanks to adopting a premium chipset that uses Bluetooth 5.0 technology. The pairing experience was seamless both on my android smartphone, the transmission was powerful and stable, and the audio quality was remarkably good and loud, given that it supports the most popular audio decoding SBC and AAC, unfortunately, there is no aptX Adaptive codec, However, this is to be expected in this price category. The company claims 10m of the distance between the earbuds and the device, but tests have shown that obstacles such as a thin wall can cut that distance in half.

To pair the earbuds to a new device, take the out of the box to put them in pairing mode, and open Bluetooth on your device, there you’ll find a new device named “think plus-LP80” connect on it and allow the pairing, it will happen almost immediately, and you are good to enjoy the amazing features this earbud offers. Pairing is done manually once, after which it’s automatic and fast with Bluetooth enabled, just remove it from the box and use it.

Lenovo LP80 – Audio Quality

The Lenovo LP80 Earbuds have a wonderful stereo effect, as it contains well-defined tones, and the sound is dominated by an emphasis on low frequencies. Powerful drums and voluminous punchy bass make them ideal for modern styles and dance music, as well as areas where beats and drums play an important role, thanks to the 13mm Dynamic Driver units, the dynamic sound delivers smooth, natural sound of pop, rock, and other strong rhythms. The armature driver delivers powerful, more accurate bass to provide more detail and excels in soothing genres such as acoustic and classical.

Microphone quality

Something that is little spoken of in the world of cheap wireless headphones is the microphone, the Lenovo LP80 brings a very good quality microphone to the table that you could count on for passing calls and being loud and clear for the other side to hear with minimal echo and distortion

Battery And Charging Time

In terms of battery, the Lenovo LP80 charging case is equipped with a built-in 300mAh Li-Polymer battery, and it provides the user with an additional 3 hours of uninterrupted playback at a time when the earbuds are fully charged, and the battery life can reach around 20 hours with the charging case and can recharge the buds 5 times before needing new power itself, which is great, its above-average autonomy if we compare it with other headphones.

Lenovo LP80 Review

When you put the earphone into the charging case, the earphone will automatically enter into the charging state and the case’s along with the earbud’s LEDs will turn on indicating they’re charging. The storage box itself can be recharged in around 2 hours. The case is recharged via Type-C underneath the case.

Final verdict

To be frank, factoring everything in, these earbuds are definitely a very good bang for one’s buck, especially since it offers high value such as a reliable microphone, loud and clear audio, touch control, good battery life, and waterproof features. So I do recommend these headphones to anyone on low-cost over so many other options.
